Due to environmental influences, weather influences, equipment limitations, etc., in many photography activities, the colors we see on the film are often different from the colors in the real world. 3nh colorchecker 24-color Calibration Card is committed to using scientific and professional methods to help us eliminate environmental interference and restore true colors.
24 natural colors, primary colors, colors and grayscale blocks cover all kinds of color requirements in nature and commercial activities, and can quickly restore white balance in special lighting environments.
The 24-color standard color card contains six-level grayscale blocks, three primary colors of additive color (red, green, and blue), three primary colors of subtractive color (yellow, magenta, and cyan), as well as skin color and the real color of simulated natural objects. The standard card has 24 pure color blocks, marked 1-24 from left to right and from top to bottom. So it is also called a 24-color card. For the test of camera color and white balance, we used the standard color card ColorChecker to shoot and compare in different environments using the corresponding white balance mode. On the one hand, we can observe the model's restoration of various colors, and on the other hand, we can observe their white balance accuracy.

Function description
There are 6 white balance modes: automatic white balance, daylight white balance, shadow white balance, tungsten white balance, fluorescent white balance, and manual white balance. The standard has 24 pure color blocks, marked 1-24 from left to right and from top to bottom.

How to use the 24-color test card
Colorchecker can reproduce colors in any lighting. The first thing you should shoot should be the ColorChecker standard color card. The specific steps are as follows:
When using the ColorChecker color card to restore the color of the image, just compose and light it normally. Then place the ColorChecker color card at the shooting scene. It does not need to fill the viewfinder. Just make sure that the camera can capture all the color blocks. And it is located in a representative part of the composition rather than in the shadow or overexposed highlights. You can also check that the colors reflected by other objects are not projected onto the color card. Then, take a photo. When this image is opened in Photoshop, there will be a built-in reference point. Use the color picker to sample the black block. The difference between red, green and blue should be within 7 units of each other, and the color value should be about 50. Although the black block is very dark, it is a faded color and will not be considered pure black. Do the same procedure for the white block. The white block should be very light, but not pure white, and its red, green and blue values should be about 245 each. The work is almost done. Finally, we need to check the color cast and select the middle gray color patch. The red, green and blue values should be about 128. The difference between them should not exceed 7 points. If the readings are very off, use the level or curve to adjust back to the above state. Then save the changed settings so that they can be applied to other images taken with this setting. Further visual color matching can be done with the remaining color patches. Note: A calibrated monitor should be used, and the ColorChecker color card should be placed under a standard light source with controlled lighting conditions.
You can use professional software such as iQstest to generate an file belonging to the camera itself. For specific steps, refer to relevant materials. The following only provides some requirements for iQstest.
1. When shooting the color card under natural and controllable light, pay attention to adjusting the appropriate angle, do not let the light directly reflect through the color card into the lens, and do not let the color reflected by other objects be projected onto the color card, which may cause a relatively large deviation and cause iQstest to have a large error;
2. Use manual precise white balance to lock the white balance as much as possible, and you can use gray balance card, white balance card, etc.
3. Exposure should be well controlled. You can open the histogram to observe and adjust the exposure compensation. Pay attention to the ideal color value of the white block between 210-245. As for the requirements of the black block, you don't need to pay attention to it, because for models with a larger tolerance, when the white block reaches the value of 210-245, the black block is unlikely to be less than 23. On the contrary, it is easy to do it for models with a smaller tolerance. The meaning here is actually to control the exposure as much as possible so that the color blocks in the color card reach the ideal white and black points.
4. When shooting, set all the contrast and color settings in the camera to the default values, and be careful not to set the sharpening option, which will also affect the color of the color card taken.
5. Try to ensure that the light on the surface of the color card is evenly distributed, and do not appear half-bright and half-dark. It is recommended to use dual light sources to illuminate the color card from the left and right at 45°.
